Farooq Abdullah promises regional autonomy if elected to power

Abdullah said this in Jammu while welcoming Gagan Bhagat, former BJP legislator from the frontier district of Ranbir Singh Pura in Jammu, into the party fold.

“I promise you if our party forms the government we will bring autonomy resolution within the first 30 days of government formation,” Abdullah said.
SRINAGAR: National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah said on Tuesday that if the party is voted to power, it will bring a resolution for autonomy in the state assembly within 30 days of forming the government.

Abdullah said this in Jammu while welcoming Gagan Bhagat, former BJP legislator from the frontier district of Ranbir Singh Pura in Jammu, into the party fold. Bhagat was recently expelled from the BJP for alleged antiparty activities.

He had also contradicted the BJP’s stand on special status of Jammu & Kashmir, saying it was necessary to protect the unity and uniqueness of the state.


“I promise you if our party forms the government we will bring autonomy resolution within the first 30 days of government formation,” Abdullah said. He said NC is in touch with several leaders from other parties and is ready to welcome many more.
