Farmers' protest 2nd day live: Haryana CM stirs controversy

Farmers of Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Maharashtra are said to be on a strike.

The farmers' strike in major states of the country entered the second day today. Farmers of Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Maharashtra are said to be on a strike. In some of these states, farmers have called for a 10 day strike.

Meanwhile, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar stirred a controversy today when he went on camera saying that farmers are protesting about unnecessary things.

"They don't have any issues, they are just focusing on unnecessary things, not selling produce will bring losses to farmers," Khattar was quoted as saying by wire agency ANI.




Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Mahasangh (RKMM) convenor Shivkumar Sharma yesterday told PTI that On the last day of the protest on June 10, the farmers' bodies will orgainse 'Bharat Bandh'.

In Maharashtra, Left-affiliated All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) is leading the protests.

In several states, farmers have stopped selling vegetables and milks.
