Farmers meet at Delhi to solve loan waivers issue, implement Swaminathan Commission report
PUNE: On the backdrop of recent widespread farmer agitations in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, farmer organisations from across the country came together in the national capital today and resolved to work together for their demands like the implementation of the Swaminathan Commission report and loan waivers.

The meeting took place at Gandhi Peace Mission, New Delhi today and was attended by Raju Shetty of Swabhimani Shetkari Sangathana from Maharashtra, Yogendra Yadav, VSM Singh from Uttar Pradesh, Rampalji Jat from Rajasthan and farmer leaders from Karnataka, West Bengal and other states.

The spontaneous strike of farmers in Maharashtra, which was later backed by all factions of farmer organisations and political parties has forced the state government to announce loan waiver with some conditions.

"We have decided to expand the farmer agitation to the national level. To increase the pressure on the central government for implementation of the Swaminathan Commitee report, all the farmer leaders from across the country will come together and travel in all parts of the country," said Shetty at the meeting.
