PUNE: Bouyed by the spontaneous farmers strike, that started from Maharashtra and spread to Madhya Pradesh and Haryana, farmers across the country are trying to unite to address various farmer issues, with remunerative prices being the key demand.

All India Kisan’s Coordination Committee, a federal body of farmers has organised a meeting of representatives of farmers union on June 16th at Gandhi Peace Mission, New Delhi.

"More than 50 representatives of various farmers bodies, across nation will be participating in the meet. The main agenda for the meet will be getting the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commision implemented along with loan waivers for farmers," said Yogesh Pande, spokesperson Swabhimani Shetkari Sangathana, a farmers organisation from Maharashtra, which led the grouping of various social and farmer organisations and groups from Maharashtra in the second phase of the farmer strike that succeed in getting farmer loan waiver with some riders.

VM Singh , Rashtriya Kisan Majdoor Sangh will be convener of meet. "Main focus will be stressed on finalizing common minimum programme along with preparation for nationwide agitation against government for not fulfilling promise of providing better minimum support price based on inputs costs of cultivation," said Pande.

Raju Shetti, Member of Parliament and founder president of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghtna from Maharashtra , Rampal Jat , farmer leader from Rajasthan will be attending meet with other farmers leaders. Loan Waiver for farmers, providing Kisan Credit Cards, pension scheme for farmers will be on agenda of meet.
