Farmer gunned down in Muzaffarnagar, tension prevails

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Tension prevailed here as villagers blocked Delhi-Dehradun national highway and pelted stones over policemen after a farmer was shot dead today by some persons.

Yamin (50) was gunned down by some persons from another village after an argument over some issue. A case has been registered against five persons in this regard at Shahpur police station, police said.

The enraged villagers blocked Delhi-Dehradun highway after the incident and indulged in stone pelting in which some policemen were also injured.

Senior police officers rushed to the spot and brought situation under control. Security has been tightened in the area, police said.
