When Naidu was addressing the public, the farmer consumed pesticide in public view, creating a commotion and forcing the CM to stop the meeting for a while, police said.
The distressed farmer tried to end his life because local Village Development Officer (VDO) had been allegedly harassing him for a long time.
He was immediately taken to a local hospital where his condition is stated to be serious, police said.
