Farm loan waiver package incomplete and illogical: BJP
Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu today said that farm loan waiver package announced by the UPA government was incomplete and illogical.
Majority of farmers in the country are dissatisfied as a number of them have been deprived from the benefit of loan waiver package due to guidelines framed by RBI, Naidu said addressing a farmers' meeting christened as "Kisan Adalat" by the party's state unit at Polkampalli village under Ibrahimpatnam mandal in neighbouring Ranga Reddy district.
The BJP leader said that out of 7,500 farmers in the mandal only 2,100 farmers have been covered under the loan waiver scheme.
He assured that if NDA comes to power it would waive off loans of small and marginal farmers upto Rs 50,000.
Naidu demanded transfer of private loans taken by the farmers as institutional loans.
It was the first 'Kisan Adalat' organisaed by the state BJP unit. About 3,000 farmers from various villages attended the programme.
Some farmers said that though they have paid instalments of their loans, officials told them that they were not eligible for the debt waiver.
Party's Ranga Reddy district president Narasimha Reddy, Kisan Morcha president Sugnakar Rao and others also spoke on the occasion.
