Families of blasts victims to get Rs 8 lakh as compensation

The families of Delhi serial blasts victims will receive a total of Rs eight lakh as compensation from the Central and Delhi governments.

NEW DELHI: The families of Delhi serial blasts victims will receive a total of Rs eight lakh as compensation from the Central and Delhi governments.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil who visited the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital here where most of the dead and injured were rushed to, announced that the Centre would give Rs three lakh as compensation to the next of kin of those killed in the blasts.

Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to those killed after an emergency meeting of the state cabinet here.

Patil also said that the injured would be given Rs 50,000 as compensation.

Besides monetary compensation, the state government has also decided to provide free medical treatment to those injured in the blasts.
