New Delhi: Former deputy prime minister LK Advani on Friday denied any involvement in the Babri Masjid demolition.

Advani claimed he has been falsely implicated and the case is politically motivated. The veteran BJP leader recorded his statement under Section 313 of the Criminal Procedure Code on Friday via video conferencing. Advani had to answer a volley of 1050 questions by the special CBI judge conducting day-to-day trial of the case.

In a related development, co-accused and another BJP stalwart M M Joshi told the court that he will produce witnesses in his defence to prove his “innocence”. Joshi was questioned by the special CBI judge via video conferencing on Thursday. Joshi has also denied involvement in the case and refuted all allegations levelled against him.

Production of defence witnesses by the accused would mean that the trial will take longer to conclude. For, defence witnesses will be produced who will be examined by the prosecution.

Of the total 32 accused, 29 stand examined till Friday. One of the co-accused Satish Pradhan could not be examined earlier this week on medical grounds. He is slated to record his statement on July 28.
