Faizabad district to be renamed as Ayodhya, announces UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath

Addressing a large gathering in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath announced that Faziabad district will be renamed as Shri Ayodhya. Yogi also explained the true meaning of the term "Ram Rajya". He reiterated that a nation where people are not discriminated on the basis of caste, creed and religion can be said to be moving towards the ideal of Ram Rajya.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister also announced various development projects for Ayodhya. He announced a medical college for Ayodhya. The new medical college will be named after King Dasharatha. He also said that the administration will construct an airport in Ayodhya.

South Korean First Lady Kim Jung-sook is in India on her first foreign visit without being accompanied by husband and nation's President Moon Jae-in. Ayodhya prominently features on her four-day visit to India. She is a state quest for Diwali celebrations in India


In July this year, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Republic of Korea (RoK) for the "expansion" of Queen Suriratna Memorial Project. A joint project that traces India and South Korea's cultural history back to AD 48.

The Ayodhya connection of South Korea gained currency at the turn of the 21st century. Kimhae mayor led a delegation to Ayodhya in February 2000.
