Faith in Chief Minister, Sonia Gandhi's leadership: Himachal Pradesh cabinet

SHIMLA: With Congress defeated in Himachal Pradesh, state cabinet today said it accepts the verdict of the people in Lok Sabha polls and expressed confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and party president Sonia Gandhi. In a resolution adopted at the meeting, the cabinet said, "We accept the verdict of the people with humility and express full faith in the leadership of Virbhadra Singh and further resolve that the state government is strong and firmly stands behind the AICC President Sonia Gandhi and AICC Vice-President Shri Rahul Gandhi".

The cabinet vowed to pursue the pro-people policies and programmes with greater vigour and zeal and strengthen the secular fabric of the country. BJP won all four seats in Himchal Pradesh. The chief minister yesterday ruled out his resignation in view of the party's dismal poll performance. Asked whether he would consider tendering resignation like Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Virbhadra Singh said, "he (Gogoi) might have some compulsions, but I have no such thing."
