Fahim Ansari to join Ajmal Kasab
The probe into Mumbai terror is likely to intensify with ATS of Maharashtra getting custody of Fahim Ansari.

MUMBAI: The probe into the 26/11 terror strike is likely to intensify with the Anti-Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra getting the custody of Fahim Ansari, an accused in the CRPF camp attack case in Uttar Pradesh.
A court at Rampur on Friday handed over Ansari to an ATS team for questioning in connection with the 26/11 attack. The crime branch officials of Mumbai police, investigating the 26/11 strike, told ET that Ansari���s involvement in the operation needed to be probed since the Uttar Pradesh police had found maps and other documents on him at the time of his arrest in February after the CRPF camp attack.
���The maps recovered from Ansari are of major locations in Mumbai like the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, area around the Taj and Oberoi, and other documents that he is suspected to have shared with the masterminds of 26/11. His interrogation would reveal his links, if any, with terrorists who carried out the operation in Mumbai,��� a crime branch official told ET. The Mumbai police have maintained that the ten terrorists who carried out the attack at CST, Taj, Oberoi-Trident, Cafe Leopold, and Nariman House, had not visited Mumbai before.
The crime branch officials suspect that Fahim Ansari, along with others, could have been instrumental in doing a research on Mumbai and the specific targets assigned to the terrorists. ���The terrorists were given targets on the basis of maps and documents. It���s possible that Fahim personally visited all locations and mapped them out,��� the official said.
