BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis is all set to take oath as the next chief minister of Maharashtra at 7pm today, giving a rest to the week-long political turmoil in the state, revealed sources.

If appointed, Fadnavis will enjoy the chief ministerial position for the third-time in the state after being in power in 2019 (for a short period of time) and 2014.

Earlier today BJP leader, accompanied by Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, concluded a meeting with governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari which was likely to stake claim on forming a government.

According to the sources, Shinde, who led the revolt against the MVA government, will be appointed as the new deputy chief minister of the state.

Fadnavis and Shinde had also met home minister Amit Shah before meeting the governor and discussing the future course of action.

The shift in power can be attributed to Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray’s resignation from the post of CM on Wednesday ahead of a floor test on June 30. He also resigned from the Maharashtra Legislative Council.
