Facebook tribute to Army by NSS students at IIT Bombay

NEW DELHI: National Service Scheme students at IIT Bombay uploaded about 10 posters dedicated to the Indian Army on their Facebook page as a prelude to the National Defence Day celebrations. The posters acknowledged the contribution of the armed forces and thanked them for their service with a poem titled ‘A Little More’.

The posters, according to a press release issued by IIT Bombay, were highly appreciated and shared by the Indian Army.

The post on the Indian Army’s official Facebook page said, “We appreciate the gesture by the students of National Service Scheme, IIT Bombay for the series of posters made for the #ArmedForces.”

A student associated with the group said, “The post on the Indian Army page received 32,000+ likes and over 3,000 shares.”

In addition, the IIT Bombay students set up a YouTube channel – Open Learning Initiative – to ensure that language does not become a barrier in education.

The channel features educational videos recorded by volunteers, mostly undergraduate students, in regional languages. The channel contains 100 educational videos on science and maths in seven Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Odia, Malayalam and Telugu.

There is also a course in English for the benefit of students and a section on scientific experiments to enhance the interest of the students in science and to promote scientific temperament.
