Facebook launches second phase of digital literacy project for tribal girls
The first phase of Facebook's digital literacy project was launched in March this year to connect underprivileged young women from tribal areas with expert mentors. Now in the second phase, around 5000 women will be digitally mentored.

Called GOAL (Going Online as Leaders), the programme was launched in March this year and connects underprivileged young women from tribal areas with senior expert mentors in the areas of business, fashion and arts to learn digital and life skills.
In the second phase of the programme, 5000 young women in India’s tribal dominated districts will be digitally mentored.
Speaking at the launch, Arjun Munda, Minister of Tribal Affairs said, “Through this partnership the GOAL program will provide economically and socially marginalized young women with the tools and guidance they need to succeed, using technology they may otherwise have not had access to.
Anna Roy - Senior Advisor Data Management & Analysis and Chairperson, Women Entrepreneurship Platform NITI Aayog, and Ajit Mohan - Vice President & Managing Director, Facebook India and Ankhi Das, Director of Public Policy, Facebook India were also present during the event.
