Gujarat: PM Modi gets rousing welcome in Bhuj
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP chief JP Nadda would be visiting Mumbai in September to oversee BJP's campaign for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) election.

Shah is expected to come visit Mumbai on September 5 where he would be meeting BJP leaders such as Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule, deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar and other leaders to fine-tune the party's poll campaign. Shah will also be visiting the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal. Nadda is slated to visit Mumbai on September 15 and 16 with an eye on the Mumbai civic polls.

Shah and Nadda's visit highlights the importance BJP has placed on the Mumbai civic elelction. The election isimportant as BJP plans to strike a blow to the Uddhav faction of Shiv Sena which has been in power in the civic body for the last 25 years.

Being in power in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has also helped Shiv Sena boost its presence in the Maharashtra assembly. Out of the 36 assembly seats in Mumbai, the Sena in the last 2019 polls had won 14. If the Sena loses the Mumbai civic polls, then it can be pushed to the margins in the state politics.
