Extend all possible cooperation for the peace process to conclude successfully: Joint Legislators Forum

GUWAHATI: Joint Legislators Forum (LF) on Naga Political Issue along with both Members of Parliament representing Nagaland has appealed the people of our neighboring States to extend all possible cooperation so that the peace process can conclude in a successful manner that will enable peace and stability in the entire region.

There has been series of protest in Manipur since the government of India and Naga organizations wrapped up talks. The forum state, "we appeal to our neighbouring States to build trust and confidence within us so that we can live peacefully under an environment of mutual co-existence and cooperation."

The forum in a meeting resolved successful conclusion of negotiations between the Government of India and the Naga National Political Groups and extends sincere appreciation to the negotiating parties for making sacrifices and for understanding the realities of the given situation.


The forum reiterated the August 7, 2019 JLF Resolution and appealed to all the stakeholders - the negotiating parties, Hohos, Civil Society Organizations, Churches and the people, to foster a spirit of unity and oneness amongst each other to facilitate the eventual solution to the protracted Naga political issue that is honourable, acceptable and which recognizes the uniqueness of the history of the Naga people.

The House appreciated the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Nagaland Governor and Centre's Interlocutor R.N Ravi for bringing the talks thus far. The House further welcomed the proactive role played by the mass based organizations, tribal hohos. NGOs, Churches and civil
societies who made all out efforts to create a congenial atmosphere to ensure that the negotiations were headed in a positive direction.

The House appealed to the WC NNPGs and the NSCN (IM) to sit across the negotiating table and bury all differences for the greater good of the Naga people and further appealed to all other groups who are not on board to join the peace process.
