GUWAHATI: A huge quantity of explosives were recovered from two NDFB-Songbijit militants and two arms dealers with weapons were arrested in lower Assam's Kokrajhar district today, a police official said.

Eight kg explosives were recovered from Rupnathpur village, under Kachugaon police station, following lead provided by NDFB-S extremist Gongar Basumatary recently in West Bengal, IGP L R Bishnoi told PTI.

Based on information provided by Gongar, police launched a search operation in the village and recovered the explosives, Bishnoi said.

At a place near Salekati, under Kokrajhar police station, two arms dealers were nabbed and two hand-made revolvers and a hand-made AK-47 rifle with ten rounds of bullets were seized from them, he said.

The arms dealers were identified as Mohamad Joynal (32) and Abdul Karim (18), the IGP added.
