Expeditiously collect loan arrears from industrialists, big entrepreneurs: Janata Dal (United)

PUDUCHERRY: Janata Dal (United) today demanded that the Centre and Puducherry governments expeditiously collect arrears due for years towards power tariff here or under several other central loan schemes from industrialists and big entrepreneurs.

President of Puducherry State committee of Janata Dal (United) R Arumugham said in a release that it was mind boggling that big entrepreneurs and a good number of industrialists starting their units here 'fly by night after enjoying several concessions and subsidies. They also owed several lakhs of Rupees of power tariff to the government.

There were instances of industrialists shifting units to other States or rechristening industries without settling the dues.

When small borrowers,agriculturists and medium industrial owners delayed paying the tariff or settling other dues, governments crack down and virtually disqualify them from borrowing loans from banks or other investment agencies, he said, adding that there should be no leniency towards big undertakings.
