Exit polls hint at massive BJP victory in assembly polls

There seemed to be no clear, overarching theme that emerged from Thursday night’s exit poll findings, but BJP seems to have the edge.

Uttar Pradesh, India’s politically most signifi cant state, could see a BJP government or a hung House with BJP as the single-largest party ahead of the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance, with BSP in third place.

Two polls, however, gave BJP a clear shot at forming the government. It appears to be neck and neck between Congress and AAP in Punjab with SAD-BJP being wiped out. BJP is expected to form the government in Uttarakhand and retain power in Goa.

The polls were split on whether BJP or Congress will win in Manipur. Here’s a snapshot of what the top exit polls are predicting. But remember, the recent record of exit polls has been spotty, to say the least. So keep watching this space — counting starts on Saturday morning.
