General Malik, who headed the Army during the Kargil conflict of 1999, said it was “depressing” , “distressing” and a “blow to the image of the Army” .
The Army should recover from the embarrassment of the Adarsh scam by reinforcing the values and principles it stands for, Malik said.
Lt General Satish Nambiar, who until recently headed the tri-service think tank United Services Institution, said the Army should hold a detailed inquiry in a transparent manner , and make public its findings . All three former senior officers, however, pointed out that the invoking of Kargil for building Adarsh was now only an allegation and was yet to be established.
