Ex-BJP MLA, who fell unconscious at Sadhvi's rally, dies

NEW DELHI: Senior BJP leader and former Trilokpuri MLA Sunil Vaid, who fell unconscious on stage while delivering his address during the rally of Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti on December 8, passed away today at a private hospital here.

He was 47. "Vaid had suffered brain hemorrhage. He was declared dead by doctors around 11.30 AM this morning," Praveen Shankar Kapoor, media in-charge of Delhi BJP, said.

Vaid was on ventilator in the hospital situated in south Delhi's Sarita Vihar since the incident.

Local BJP leader Ajay Singh said that Vaid fell unconscious and collapsed on stage while delivering his address at the rally in Trilokpuri on December 8.

East Delhi MP Mahesh Giri was also on the stage when the incident took place. It happened minutes before Sadhvi reached the venue.

Aam Aadmi Party had earlier accused Vaid of fomenting the Trilokpuri riots.
