Ex-BJP leader Jaswant Singh suffers head injury, admitted to hospital
The 76-year-old former Defence Minister fell down at his residence around 11 PM last night following which he was rushed to the hospital,

"At present his condition is very critical. He is on life support and under constant monitoring of a team of neurosurgeons and critical care providers," a defence ministry release said, adding that a lifesaving 'decompressive hemicraniectomy' has been conducted.
Sources said Singh's family members found him on the floor of his living room in an unconscious state with serious head injuries and rushed him to the hospital. Singh's son Manvendra, a former MP and now a legislator in the Rajasthan assembly, and other family members were with him.
"Examination at the hospital showed him to be in coma, with signs of 'raised intracranial tension and a haematoma scalp'. Urgent CT scan of the head showed 'an acute subdural haematoma with mass effect, a midline shift and contusion of the brain substance'.
A lifesaving 'decompressive hemicraniectomy' was done," the defence ministry said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to his family and prayed for Singh's speedy recovery.
Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, BJP veteran LK Advani, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Rajya Sabha MP Bhupendra Yadav and a host of other leaders visited the hospital to enquire about Singh's health.
The 76-year-old confidant of Atal Bihari Vajpayee held the defence, external affairs and finance portfolios in Vajpayee's different ministries from 1996-2004.
