Evolve & implement relief package for daily wage earners demands DMK

PUDUCHERRY: Opposition DMK today demanded that Chief Minister N Rangasamy evolve and implement a separate package of relief for daily wage earners, farm labourers and fishermen affected by heavy rains.

Convenor of DMK`s South wing and former legislator R.Siva in a release today said the CM had announced a relief package covering farmers and others. But no announcement had been made for fishermen who bore the brunt of the rains for nearly a month and were suffering. Similarly farm labourers and workers in unorganised sector should be extended special relief.

The announcement of Rs 4,000 per ration card would not be of help for wage earners and hence special plan should be framed for these sections, he added.
