Moitra raised concerns about the process, criticizing the Ethics Committee's approach. She stated, "First expel and THEN ask government to instruct CBI to find evidence. Kangaroo court, monkey business from start to finish." Despite the challenges, Moitra adopted a resilient stance, leveraging the situation to declare an anticipated increase in her winning margin in the 2024 elections.
"Never Waste a Good Crisis they say... - this just helped me double my 2024 winning margin," Moitra asserted.
The Ethics Committee, led by BJP Lok Sabha member Vinod Kumar Sonkar, recommended Moitra's expulsion following a series of actions over the past fortnight, including the deposition of three individuals across three sittings. The 479-page report, adopted by the committee, is noted to possibly mark the first instance of an MP facing expulsion based on the panel's recommendation.
