Ensure attempts to divide us are not successful: Manmohan Singh
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi hit out at the politics of divisiveness, comments that were viewed as a veiled attack on BJP and its presumptive PM candidate Narendra Modi.

Speaking at a function in Delhi to confer the Rajiv Gandhi Sadhbhavna Award on sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan, Singh said: “India is a vast modern nation. Along with several religions, it has several languages and sects. Many times, this diversity is exploited to create a divide among us. It is the responsibility of all political parties, all sections of the society and all of us to ensure that these attempts to divide us are not successful,” Singh said at the function.

Sonia Gandhi was less scathing in her short speech and said discrimination and division would hamper growth in the society.
