NEW DELHI: The Home Ministry has asked the Chhattisgarh government to ensure there is no repeat of security lapse when Congress resumes it Parivartan Yatra on June 16, from the area where its convoy was attacked and leaders killed by Maoists on May 25.

In an advisory sent to the Raman Singh government on Thursday, the Home Ministry asked the state to ensure top-notch security for Congress leaders and party workers, stressed upon the Chhattisgarh government to sanitise the route taken by the Parivartan Yatra and asked for adequate security at public meetings and rallies to be held by Congress.

A senior police officer in Raipur should coordinate security arrangements for the entire movement of the Yatra and the state should ensure that district superintendents of police provide road-opening parties and strategic deployment of well-armed policemen and paramilitary personnel in vulnerable stretches.
