Enough proof to nail Dawood: Government

Even as Pakistan interior minister Rehman Malik has denied that India’s most wanted fugitive Dawood Ibrahim is in Pakistan , the Intelligence agencies in India with the help of Interpol has in years have collected enough evidence to prove their claims.
Reports of his presence in the Pakistan come soon after the US Navy Seals last week gunned down al-Qaida chief Osama Bin Laden hiding in one of the similar bugalows like Dawood’s in Abbottabad.
Home minister P Chidambaram had said the fugitive gangster was still residing in Pakistan under a blanket cover from its spy agency, ISI.
The first information of Dawood and his cronies shifting their base from Dubai to Karachi came in the late ’90s when Dawood and Chhota Rajan split after the aftermath of the 1993 serial blasts. Sources said Dawood made a confidential group keeping Rajan out which irked latter.
‘‘ There were various reasons for Dawood to flee Dubai. One was that after the serial blasts, he emerged as the main accused and the Interpol started hunting for him and second was that Dawood feared that Rajan would bump him off as he was against anti-India terror and lastly the ISI took full opportunity to use him against India,” a senior intelligence officer, who is keeping a tab on D company’s activities, said.
Dawood continued shuttling between Dubai and Pakistan until 2000 when India sign an extradiation treaty with the UAE. The pressure was mounting but the real pressure came after 9/11. ‘‘ There was so much international pressure that life became bit difficult for Dawood and secondly Dawood fully came under the influence of the ISI with whom Dawood had started printing and circulating the counterfeit notes to weaken the Indian economy ,” said another officer.
Sources in the intelligence said that they have several video footage and pictures of birthday parties, death procession , celeberation and weddings , documents, copies of Dawood and his kin forged passports, which establish Dawood and his family staying in Pakistan. The very strong evident is the wedding of Dawoods ’ daughter Mahrooq who got married to Pakistani cricketor Javed Miadad’s son Junaid in 2005. The IB and R&AW had secretly filtered their men in marriage which was held in a plush hotel in Karachi.
Some evidence of Dawood’s presence came in when late encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar arrested Jamiruddin, Dawood aide who revealed two gutka barons — Rasiklal Dhariwal and Jagdish Joshi — to settle their financial dispute had flew to Dawood in Karachi. Duo not only settle their dispute but also helped Dawood’s brother Anees in setting up gutka manufacturing unit in Karachi. The CBI is still probing the matter.
