Engine of passenger train derails

UDHAGAMANDALAM: The engine of the Coonoor-Udhagamandalam train derailed near Aruvangadu Railway station, some 12 km from here today, but no passenger was injured, police said.

One wheel of the engine went off the track and immediately got stuck on the ground and under its impact the other wheel also came off, they said.

Senior railway officials rushed to the spot and the stranded passengers were sent to their onward destination by road, they said.
