Enforcement Directorate notice to my son is politically motivated: Roshan Baig

BENGALURU: Urban development minister Roshan Baig on Tuesday termed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) notice served on his businessman-son Ruman Baig as politically motivated and it "intended to malign my image and reputation, given the fact that the elections are round the corner."

The ED had on Monday issued the notice to Ruman Baig in a case of alleged violation under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

In three tweets, Roshan Baig said the ED had asked for the same information in an earlier notice and thesame had been submitted. "Now, yet again, the same notice has been issued. Being a law-abiding citizen @Rumanbaig willsubmit all information to the complete satisfaction of ED," he said.


"My son is an independent businessman for several years now& he's capable of sorting outthese issues on his own. It's astonishing that the same issue pertaining to the exact same transaction had been concluded by ED satisfactorily when the notice was issued in 2015," the minister said in another tweet.
