Enforcement Directorate asks Chandrababu Naidu to furnish financial details

ED has asked Naidu to furnish details about their investments and financial transactions, following a direction from AP High Court.

HYDERABAD/NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate has asked former chief minister and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu to furnish details about their investments and financial transactions, following a direction from Andhra Pradesh High Court.

"The former chief minister and few others have been asked to furnish documents as per the directions from the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The sources of income are being probed," ED sources said.

The ED is probing all angles like contravention of forex laws and money laundering against Naidu and others, they said.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court had on November 14 asked the CBI and Enforcement Directorate to conduct an investigation into the assets of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president.

A bench comprising justices Ghulam Mohammed and Nooti Ramamohan Rao gave these orders on a petition filed on October 17 by YSR Congress honorary President and Pulivendula MLA Y S Vijaya.

Vijaya is the wife of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

Reacting to the development, Naidu had said, "She (Y S Vijaya) filed the petition with a politically malicious intention to defame me and damage my reputation and image in the public eyes.

"It is also an attempt to divert attention from our fight against the corruption of the Andhra Pradesh government and the UPA government," he said.
