Encephalitis claims 15 lives; toll 358

GORAKHPUR: Fifteen more children succumbed to encephalitis, taking the toll in the disease in eastern Uttar Pradesh to 358 this year.

Health officials said the children died in the last two days in various government hospitals in the district.

As many as 45 fresh cases of encephalitis have been reported at BRD Medical College Hospital and adjoining government hospitals, they said.

Over 210 patients are being treated at BRD MCH and other government hospitals at present, they said.
