Elvis Gomes is AAP’s Goa CM face
His selection is seen as the debutant party’s way of shedding the outsider tag.

NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party has declared former bureaucrat Elvis Gomes as its chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming assembly elections to Goa. The announcement was made by AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal at a rally in Cuncolim in South Goa on Monday.
Gomes had taken voluntary retirement from the IPS and joined AAP in July. He was IG (prisons) and held the additional charge of urban d evelopment when he resigned.
His selection is seen as the debutant party’s way of shedding the outsider tag. “There has been a lot of positive pressure in the state to declare Gomes as the CM face,” Kejriwal’s political adviser Ashish Talwar told ET.
