Elusive ULFA commander Paresh Baruah in Myanmar, says Assam DGP
Assam Director General of Police Khagen Sarma said that in the past these militant outfits had twice cobbled a common platform, but eventually failed.

Sarma said Baruah recently visited Kunming in China. “Baruah is in outfit’s camp in Myanmar. Even the top line leaders of the Songbijit faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) are in Myanmar.”
Khaplang faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN), anti talk ULFA , the Songbijit faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB), Kamatapur Liberation Organisation has formed a common platform to fight against India. Some Manipur based militant outfits to have joined the platform.
Sarma said that in past these militant outfits has twice cobbled a common platform however they have failed. “We have to wait and see how this platform works.”
Khaplang faction of NSCN abrogated ceasefire with government of India and took lead in designing the common platform of the outfits. Sources in intelligence agencies said that Baruah is looking to revive the outfit with the help from the common pool of militants.
The five month long operation against the NDFB militants following the gruesome killing of Adivasis on December 23 last year in Assam has yielded results. In the operation by security forces including the army has 343 cadres arrested and 10 killed.
Recently security forces overrun the NDFB militants camp in Ultapani along Assam-Bhutan border, however top leaders self styled commander in chief of anti talk NDFB, B Bidai and another leader Batha managed to sneak.
Sarma said, “They managed to sneak. However around 35 to 40 cadres of NDFB are scattered in Manas National Park area and operation against them is on. We have also recovered 100 sophisticated arms, 164 grenades and 62.5kiligram of explosives during the operation.”
