Samsung on Friday called off its launch event for the Galaxy S25 Edge in New Delhi on Monday, after sending out invitations to media and influencers, following a discussion with their headquarters, executives said.
They clarified that the sale date will not be affected, and that the flagship smartphone will be available in the market as planned.
Some smartphone brands are evaluating shifting their launch event venues from New Delhi and postponing dates, industry executives told ET.
However, no brand plans to change sales timelines and may shift to virtual spaces to announce product details, they said.
ET's emailed queries to all named companies went unanswered at press time.
The developments come as security measures are being heightened in New Delhi and other parts of the country after Pakistan launched drone attacks on some cities and towns in border states, which were successfully intercepted by the army on the night of May 8.
