GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday discussed with Rahul Gandhi the list of probable candidates for the next Lok Sabha elections. He also submitted the bi-monthly performance report to the Congress VP.

Rahul is visiting Assam and West Bengal to take stock of the party functioning ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. He also met Assam PCC chief Bhubaneswar Kalita and Bengal PCC head Pradip Bhattacharya. AICC General Secretary CP Joshi, who is incharge of both the states, was also present. The Congress is proceeding early with selection of candidates in Assam as it does not want a repeat of its poor performance in council polls and wants to give time to its candidates to prepare for polls.

The Congress could not capture Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council despite being in power for three terms in a row. Local organization, Rabha Hasong Joint Movement Committee (RHJMC) won 29 of the 36 seats. Congress finished second with three seats, BJP won one and independents three.
