Elections 2014: Tamil Nadu set to lose its voice in Union Cabinet
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu, which gave several Union ministers and Minister of States in the last two governments at the Centre, is set to being reduced to a state with no voice in the Union Cabinet as AIADMK's massive win in no way has an influence on BJP, which is sitting on a comfortable majority.

Ironically, the BJP, which has put up an exemplary show at the national level has not fared well in Tamil Nadu and hence is unlikely to have anyone from the state in its Cabinet in Delhi. The BJP-led alliance managed to get an unassailable lead only in Kanyakumari.

AIADMK too, which defeated its political rivals - DMK, Congress and BJP, has fallen short of its chief Jayalalithaa's ambition to have a larger role in the national political scene.

As of 8.30 PM, Jayalalithaa-led party had won 15 seats and was maintaining unassailable leads in 22 other seats.

By AIADMK winning only in Tamil Nadu and its political rivals losing to the Jayalalithaa-led party, Tamil Nadu has lost out by and large in its influence in the Union Cabinet in Delhi, which it had enjoyed during the last decade.
