KOHIMA: Ruling Naga People's Front nominee and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio is set to be the lone representative of the state to the lower house of Parliament.

Rio polled 61,4979 votes, leading by 3,56,314 votes over his nearest Congress rival KV Pusa, according to trends available.

This will be the third straight win for the ruling Naga People's Front, as it had also won the 2004 and 2009 Lok Sabha polls in the state.

In 2009, NPF candidate CM Chang won against Congress' K Asungba Sangtam by a 4.83 lakh votes, setting the highest record margin in the country.

Nagaland Congress President SI Jamir told reporters "We cannot expect a good result on our part. Since it was not an election in its true sense, but only a money game, so we cannot expect to win."
