The ruling CPI-M candidates in Tripura established strong lead in the two parliamentary constituencies over their nearest Congress rivals.

AGARTALA: The ruling CPI-M candidates in Tripura established strong lead in the two parliamentary constituencies over their nearest Congress rivals.

CPI-M candidate in Tripura West constituency Shankar Prasad is leading by over 72,000 votes with his nearest rival from INC, Arunoday Saha.

In Tripura East (ST) constituency, Jitendra Chowdhury is leading by over 1,70,000 votes over his nearest rival from INC, Sachintra Debbarma.

In 2009 general elections, CPI-M candidate, Khagen Das trounced Sudip Roy Burman of INC by 248549 votes in West Tripura Constituency.

CPI-M candidate, Baju Ban Riyan trounced Dibachandra Hrankhawl of INC by 295581 votes in East Tripura (ST) Constituency in 2009.
