MUMBAI: Maharashtra industries minister Narayan Rane has resigned from the Congress-NCP government following the defeat of his son Nilesh Rane who was contesting Lok Sabha polls from the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg seat.

Rane senior sent in his resignation to chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, taking moral responsibility for the poll debacle.
