Elections 2014: Maharashtra Industries minister Narayan Rane quits as son loses to Shiv Sena nominee
Maha Industries MinNarayan Rane today resigned from his post in the wake of defeat of his son Nilesh Rane on his home turf by a Shiv Sena candidate.

Nilesh lost to Shiv Sena nominee Vinayak Raut in the close contest. When contacted, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Manikrao Thakre confirmed Rane's resignation.
"Although Rane has tendered his resignation over the loss of his son Nilesh, the same will not be accepted. We will hold discussions with him and find a way out," Thakre told PTI. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thakeray has left for Ratnagiri district where he is likely to address a 'victory rally' for Raut. P
