NEW DELHI: The recently concluded Lok Sabha 2014 elections saw many celebs and sportspersons trying to make an entry into the politics. Some of them were able to win votes, while others only managed to grab some limelight. For many it was their first strike at politics, but for some it was usual business.

Voters welcomed Paresh Rawal, who won with a huge number of 3.3 lakh votes in Gujarat, while old guns like Raj Babbar and Jayaprada fell short of getting the mandate.

Along with celebs, several sportspersons also participated in the Lok Sabha 2014 polls. Some of them performed very well on the electoral pitch while others had a tough day scoring.

Olympic medallist shooter Rajyavardhan Singh of BJP defeated Congress candidate from Jaipur Rural constituency with a margin of 3.3 lakh votes. TMC's Bhaichung Bhutia, who is known for scoring goals on a football ground, failed to score well on the electoral ground. He lost to BJP candidate SS Ahluwalia by 1.9 lakh votes.
