Elections 2014: Congress dissolves party units in Ahmedabad, 3 other cities
AHMEDABAD: After a complete wash-out in the Lok Sabha elections where it could not win a single seat in the state, Gujarat Congress today dissolved the party units in four major cities. Gujarat Congress president Arjun Modhwadia issued the directive in this regard today.

"To facilitate re-formation of all the committees in Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat, Modhwadia has decided to dissolve the existing committees after doing introspection on our defeat," said state Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi.

Besides the city-district committees, all the Assembly and ward committees of these cities have been dissolved. However, presidents of city-district committees have been retained. "It is now necessary to do a restructuring of all the committees of these cities, as our candidates were defeated by huge margins, ranging from two lakh to five lakh votes, in these cities. We need to analyse the situation and take such drastic steps," said Doshi.
