Election results of UP polls: Samajwadi Party takes early lead, BJP making strong gains

LUCKNOW: The Samajwadi Party has taken early leads in Uttar Pradesh as predicted by all the exit polls, according to initial trends coming from the state.

However, what has come as a big surprise to all is the early gains made by the BJP in the state.

Surprising all poll pundits, the BJP is emerging as the second largest party in the state.

The initial trends show that the party is gaining in the urban areas. Some observers feel that the party has benefitted from the polarisation of votes, thanks to the high-pitched pro-minority campaign led by the Congress.

The trends also show that the BSP is heading for disaster, and would end up doing worse than what the exit polls predicted for the party.

The Congress, which ran a high-pitchd campaign in the state led by the Gandhi family, has failed to attract the voters in the state.

The current indications are that the party may end up fourth in the state.

The results will be a huge disappointment for the party and will give the oppostion an opportunity to raise questions about the popular appeal of Rahul Gandhi.
