Election Results 2014: Shatrughan Sinha overcomes black flag protests to win with record margin

Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha retained his native Patna Sahib seat defeating his nearest Congress rival Kunal Singh by a record margin of 2,65,805 votes.

PATNA: Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha retained his native Patna Sahib seat defeating his nearest Congress rival Kunal Singh by a record margin of 2,65,805 votes.

Sinha bagged 4,85,905 votes, Kunal Singh, Bhojpuri actor and Congress nominee secured 2,20,100 votes.

Noted doctor and JD(U) candidate Gopal Prasad Sinha stood third with 91,024 votes.

Sinha popularly known as "Bihari Babu" overcame peoples grievances over his remaining absent from constituency thanks to "Modi wave" sweeping the state like in the country. He had to face many anxious moments when people showed him black flags complaining his absence from constituency.

The party had also kept his nomination on hold before giving it a go ahead later on.

The present victory of Sinha is even bigger than it was last time which he had won by over 1.75 lakh votes.

Former Bihar minister and Aam Admi party nominee Parveen Amanullah lost deposit bagging only 16381 votes.
