Election results 2012: BJP ahead in Goa

BJP is leading in seven seats in Goa while ruling Congress is ahead in two in the 40-member Assembly at 9:30 am.

PANAJI: BJP is leading in seven seats in Goa while ruling Congress is ahead in two in the 40-member Assembly at 9:30 am.

Of the seven seats where BJP is leading, six are in south Goa and one in north Goa.

Goa Vikas Party is leading in two. Congress sitting MLA's Mauvin Godinho (Dabolim) and Chandrakant Kavalekar (Qupeme) are leading in their respective constituencies.

The induction of new faces in BJP appeared to have worked very well in five constituencies including Sanvordem, Curchorem, Calangute, Mormugao and Canacona.

GVP candidate Caetano Silva, who is pitted against Congress Valanka Alemao, daughter of minister Churchill Alemao was trailing.
