Election Commission said it is their endeavour to hold the next year's Assembly polls in West Bengal in free, fair and peaceful manner.

KOLKATA: In view of recurring incidents of violence during polls in West Bengal, the election commission of India on Thursday assured 100% deployment of central police forces in all 77,000 booths in the state.

The Chief Election Commissioner, Nasim Zaidi further added that there would be no dearth of armed forces in the booths and the commission would replicate some of the electoral procedures implemented in Bihar. Even if one voter complains of not being able to cast his vote, the concerned election official would be held responsible, added Zaidi.

The commission also emphasized that all incidents having a political overtone would be recorded and documented now onwards. "We will try to put in place a mechanism through which each and every booth can be monitored. The commission will ensure that the central forces are deployed at every booth and they can carry out area domination for building confidence among voters ahead of the elections. the commission will also ensure free and fair political activ ties during the campaign," said Nasim Zaidi, CEC "There would be a three layered protection to ensure that the voters should not be intimidated and hreatened," he adds.

The full bench of commission today visited the state to review the preparedness here before the assembly election scheduled to take place in April. The representatives of all political parties today met he commission and submitted the documents related to the law and order issues in the state.
