Election Commission summons Arvind Kejriwal over take-bribe talk
NEW DELHI: The Election Commission on Monday issued a notice to Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on a speech he made in Goa on January 8 that reportedly exhorted people to accept bribes from other parties.

The EC notice says it has received an online complaint and CD from the BJP and forwarded by the Chief Electoral Officer of Goa against Kejriwal. The complaint alleges that Kejriwal “deliberately and intentionally instigated the public to take bribe for voting” in a speech in Mapusa. It has been alleged by the BJP that he has thereby abetted the offence of bribery during the electoral process.

Kejriwal is learnt to have asked people to accept bribe in new currency from other parties but to still vote for the AAP.

The EC notice says it is prima facie of the opinion that Kejriwal has violated the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct and has been asked to be present at EC at 1 pm on January 19 to explain why no action should be taken against him.
