Syed Shuja, a self-proclaimed cyber expert based in the US, claimed that he was a part of the team at Electronic Corporation of India Ltd (ECIL), which designed and developed the EVMs. He also alleged that the 2014 general elections in India were rigged. In a sensational claim, he has also said that senior BJP Gopinath Munde was murdered because he was aware of EVMs being rigged in 2014.

The Election Commission of India has repeatedly maintained that the electronic voting machines were foolproof. The commission was currently analysing what legal action could be taken regarding the press conference organised by Indian Journalists' Association (Europe).

Leaders have said that if EVMs can actually be tampered as claimed in a conference in London yesterday,it should be thoroughly probed as it puts our democracy and the electoral process in peril.
