Election Commission allots 'NCP Sharadchandra Pawar' name to Sharad group

After the Sharad Pawar faction of NCP gave three names to the Election Commission on Wednesday, the poll body alloted the Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar as the party name.

A day after EC allocated the NCP name and 'clock' symbol to the Ajit Pawar faction, the Sharad Pawar group had given three names - Nationalist Congress Party-Sharad Pawar, Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar, Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadrao Pawar - to the poll body.

After the poll panel's ruling on Tuesday, the Sharad Pawar faction said it would move the Supreme Court soon against the poll body's decision to recognise the Ajit Pawar faction as NCP. The Sharad Pawar faction is mulling to ask the SC to club its petition with the one filed by the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena.
